Free Press Insider’s Tip: Don’t miss drinks and appetizers at the Blue River Bistro. Known for its 2-for-1 martini happy-hour deals and live music, this is a great après ski hangout in Breckenridge’s trendy downtown area.

This season, Breckenridge will have one of its most exciting years ever, as the resort adds more than 540 acres on Peak 6, just north of Peak 7. Peak 6 will showcase 400 new acres of lift-served terrain and 143 acres of hike-to terrain; that’s a 23 percent increase in resort’s ski-able acres, folks! This is one of the most notable ski area expansions in the past decade, and will feature high-alpine, intermediate bowl skiing. To check on opening day for Peak 6, visit http://www.breckenridge.com.

Another new, year-round attraction is Breck’s 1,500 foot-long zipline, found at Peak 8’s base area. It’s a two stage, four-line zip with the first stage being 500-feet long and the second 1,000 feet.

According to Breckenridge Ski Resort’s website, this expansive ski area currently offers 31 ski lifts with Ski/Ride Terrain totaling 2,358 acres, 600 of which are groomed daily. Plus, it offers four terrain parks and a 22-foot superpipe, which appeals to a variety of skill levels.
