Free Press Insider’s Tip: Don’t miss Oak by the gondola for a beer and barbecue, or the New Sheridan Chop House for a martini and a steak. Yum!

Located in Colorado’s beautiful San Juan Mountains, Telluride Ski Resort sits in the highest concentration of 13ers and 14ers in the country. And its saw-toothed peaks set the backdrop for some of the most challenging terrain in the state, with 2,000+ skiable acres and hike-to terrain

The jaw-dropping scenery is also complimented by historic Telluride’s unique blend of original mining-days structures, high-end hotels, spas, shops and gourmet restaurants.

Plus, there’s no need to drive (always a bonus, since there’s limited parking on this small resort town). Linked by a free gondola, historic downtown is connected to the newer Mountain Village. Most lodging options are within walking distance from the slopes (both in Telluride and Mountain Village), and many hotels offer ski shuttles as well. Restaurants abound in both locations.
