In a seven home-game stretch this week, the GJ Rockies are leading the Pioneer League! Plus, fireworks will immediately follow Friday’s evening game (July 12) at Sam Suplizio Field. That’s great news for fans planning to attend home games all week.
GJ Rockies Assistant General Manager Mike Ruvolo also said that as of Wednesday, July 10, the team is “tied for first place right now with the Ogden Raptors at 11-8.”
According to a recent GJ Rockies news release, Sunday’s game boasts another big treat. The first 300 fans through Suplizio Field’s gates will pick up a free Colorado Rockies T-shirt. Monday’s game will additionally collect school supplies for District 51 students. Teachers may purchase a kids-priced game ticket with a valid ID on Monday, too.
“We are averaging 2,366 (fans per) game right now, but we expect that number to pick up with the fireworks games coming up,” Ruvolo added in a Wednesday email. “We have a total attendance of 21,293 people through nine regular season games.”
And don’t forget — local musicians perform live music at the State Farm Plaza (located on the right-field line at Suplizio Field) for two hours before each game in Grand Junction. It’s a great way to socialize while watching the team’s batting practice.
