Glenwood High School’s top mock trial team once again came out on top at the state tournament, defeating a team from Pueblo in the finals on Saturday evening.

“The last round was really close. We had no idea what was going to happen,” said sophomore Evan Carrington.

As one of only two additions to the top team that took the title last year, it was Carrington’s first state victory.

“It feels really good,” he said.

Glenwood’s team two also competed in the tournament. More detailed scores and rankings are expected later this week.

Team one will receive a new problem on April 1 and begin training for nationals in North Carolina in May. They’ve fared well there before, and hope to outdo themselves.

“I think we’re definitely capable,” Carrington said.

In the mean time, they’ll have a week off to celebrate their victory.

“These kids were just phenomenal throughout the tournament,” said coach Charlie Willman. “We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
