“Heaven is here. There is no other place. Heaven is now. There is no other time.” — A Course in Miracles

Do you believe that heaven is here, right where you are, right now? Do you believe that you create heaven on earth? And, if you believe that you create heaven right where you are, do you believe that you can create your own hell as well?

We create how we experience this physical reality by our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes and perceptions. We have been given the amazing gift of choice and it is with our choices that we create the reality we live in. So what do you choose — heaven or hell?

We always have the freedom to change our thoughts, beliefs, attitude and perceptions. Always! It’s simply a choice. It’s not always an easy choice because of how we’ve been programmed, but the more we practice making choices for our highest good and the highest good of those around us, the easier it gets.

To give you an example of what I am talking about I will relate to you an experience I had where I was aware of a choice I needed to make to bring me peace … to bring heaven into the situation right there, right now. The situation was one where I was feeling extremely impatient, creating hell for myself by my thoughts, beliefs, attitude and perceptions.

I was in a rush waiting in line at the post office. There was only one clerk waiting on a long line of customers even though there were a couple of other postal workers wandering around behind the counter. As my watch ticked away the seconds then minutes, I became more and more agitated and I’m sure I helped exacerbate the agitation of those on either side of me in line just by my negative energy.

My thoughts about the situation were admittedly not very nice. My beliefs about other people’s responsibility, or lack of it, were dialed in. My attitude left a lot to be desired and my perception was that those other workers were extremely lazy or were purposely trying to irritate us, the customers. I was certainly creating a hellish circumstance for myself, lower energy and all. Until…

All of a sudden it was as if 10,000 angels swooped down around me and poked me into the awareness of how low I had let my consciousness slip into this “hell” state of mind. All because of my thoughts, beliefs, attitude and perceptions and the choices I was making from that state. Once I was knocked back into higher consciousness, I was able to make better choices and began creating my heaven right there, right then.

I did this by simply changing my thoughts, beliefs, attitude and perceptions with my beautiful divine gift of choice. My thoughts became more kind and compassionate and I changed my belief about other people’s responsibility — it’s none of my business! My attitude shifted into one of patience and love and my perception shifted to allow the possibility that I had no idea what was going on behind that counter and the postal workers were probably doing their assigned tasks.

Miraculously, time was no longer an issue for me and the line began to move and flow effortlessly. I had transformed what was for me a hellish experience into a peaceful, heavenly one. I left the post office much lighter than when I went in and still made my appointments on time. Amazing how things work so smoothly when we are not in resistance to what is and allow things to be what they are!

I challenge you this week to stay aware of your energy in difficult situations and be at peace in the midst of them. That will put you in a perfect position to create your heaven on earth, right where you are, right at the moment.
