Library News column: Health matters

Library News

There are so many important aspects of life, yet none are as fundamentally necessary as our health. Our ability to work, learn and play all depend on our level of health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report on health and academic achievement states, “Healthy students are better on all levels of academic achievement: academic performance, education behavior, and cognitive skills and attitudes.”

In efforts to connect our communities to local and national health resources, your Garfield County Libraries added a new health page to our website. There you can access information on food assistance, health insurance, mental health and databases with trustworthy and reliable health information.

Additionally, we have events coming up that include a “Summer Wellness Series” in Glenwood Springs and a “Health Insurance 101” series in Parachute, Rifle and Glenwood Springs. All events and resources are free and available for all to use.

Visit http://www.gcpld.org/health to check out the resources and for more information.
