Hearing set in child poisoning case

Maria Alvarado-Gomez, the Carbondale woman who was arrested in July after she admitted to feeding her daughters rat poison, will appear at a half-day preliminary hearing on March 9.

The girls were hospitalized and later released into the custody of their father.

Alvarado-Gomez was arrested for first-degree attempted murder and is being held at the Garfield County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
