I-70 canyon closure set overnight

Staff Report

Eastbound Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon will be closed for bridge repairs from midnight Monday till 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Westbound lanes will remain open.

The closure will begin at Glenwood Springs, although No Name residents with proof of address will be allowed local access.

The Colorado Department of Transportation suggests an alternate route north along State Highway 13 to Craig, along U.S. 40 to Steamboat Springs, and then down to Wolcott via State Highway 131.

The detour adds around four hours, while the closure may last less than the five hours scheduled, CDOT said.
