JQS Road north of Rifle reopens after rock slide cleared
The Bureau of Land Management has reopened the JQS Road north of Rifle after the road had been closed since Friday due to a rock slide.
The slide was cleared during the weekend.
The JQS Road is one of two public access routes to the top of the Roan Plateau. The rock slide was discovered Thursday, close to the base of the plateau about 5 miles west of Colo. Highway 13, where the road begins climbing the steep cliff.

Basalt town government officials learned from Waste Management that it will require a $120,000 subsidy to keep a recycling drop-off site in Willits operating in 2020. That’s double the subsidy of last year. It reflects the depressed market for recycled materials.
