Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s Lands End Amber won a bronze medal in the Denver International Beer Competition this past weekend.

Lands End Amber competed against more than 250 entries in the Altbier Category to win third place. There were entries from both domestic and international breweries, and medals were awarded based on scores provided by 25 beer judges and nine beer stewards. The judges awarded a total of 108 medals in 41 style categories, plus best of show.

Kannah Creek’s Lands End Amber is a traditional German-style Altbier. It is deep copper in color, has a crisp clean finish, and is well balanced with the rich character of the specialty malts and the mild aroma and bitterness of three hop additions. It has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5.5 percent and an international bittering unit (IBU) of 28.

This is the fifth Denver International Beer Competition. The competition was held April 12-13 in Broomfield, Colo. ALTitude Red Ale from Front Range Brewing Company took silver in the Altbier Category. Boston Ale from Boston Beer Company won gold.

This is the third medal for Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s Lands End Amber. The Lands End won gold in 2010 at the World Beer Cup and a silver medal at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival. Due to its popularity and awards, the Lands End is one of the flagship beers now bottled and distributed throughout Colorado.
