Lanes closed on Grand Ave. Bridge, I-70 starting today

Staff Report

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will conduct inspection and minor repair work on the Grand Avenue Bridge beginning Tuesday. The work is a follow up to an incident in mid-September involving a truck that hit the bridge rail’s steel end caps, causing damage to the bridge rail and concrete curb and also damage to the parking lot of Glenwood Hot Springs Pool.

CDOT crews will be using a snooper truck (an under-bridge access crane) to repair and inspect any potential hazards.

From Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., motorists will encounter delays on the bridge. All northbound traffic will be switched to the southbound side, resulting in one lane of travel in each direction during work hours. In addition, one lane of eastbound and westbound I-70 will be closed during inspection/repair of the bridge structure for the safety below the structure during the work.
