Mailbox masher mangles Silt Mesa

SILT — A vandal or vandals apparently struck overnight on Saturday in Silt Mesa, damaging or destroying approximately 50 mail boxes along several county roads, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
The activity ranged from County Roads 210 (Mile Pond Road) and 293 (North Graham Road) west of Silt, to LaFrenz Lane and County Road 250 (Bendetti Road) to the east, the sheriff’s office reported on Monday.
The zone of mischief also included the Harvey Gap, Odin and Rainbow Drive areas, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The case is now listed as the “featured crime” in Crimestoppers program, and will net up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a suspect or suspects.
