Meeting set for Wednesday to discuss New Castle interchange improvements

Colorado Department of Transportation officials are hosting a public open house Wednesday afternoon and evening for the proposed New Castle Interstate 70 Exit 105 interchange improvement project.

The open house will take place from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the New Castle Community Center, 423 W. Main St.

Among the improvements being considered are better acceleration and deceleration lanes, operational improvements for the spur road into New Castle, and scour mitigation at the Colorado River Bridge.

According to a CDOT news release, the interchange experiences significant congestion at peak travel times, and the project is in the early design phase. Project team members will have project plan boards available that illustrate the future improvements.
