Military service members, veterans receive free state parks access in August
For the entire month of August, Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers free park entrance to all active-duty military and veterans.
Archery, boating, rock climbing, hiking, geocaching and wildlife viewing — along with well-equipped nature centers and picnic areas — are just a few of the options available for service members to relax and recharge. Additional outdoor recreation opportunities can be found in the agency’s Parks Guide, at: cpw.state.co.us/Documents/ParksBrochureWeb.pdf
“We are very appreciative of Colorado’s military community and encourage them to take advantage of this offer to get out and enjoy the recreational opportunities within state parks,” Bob Broscheid, CPW’s director, said in a news release.
Once eligibility is confirmed, a military hang-tag pass will be issued to the service member, admitting all passengers of the vehicle to the park free of charge. Though park entrance fees are waived for all vets and active-duty personnel during the month, activities like fishing and camping will still require a valid license and permit.
