New Castle Community Market returns for its 6th year
The New Castle Community Market will run from 4:30-7:30 p.m. July 6 through Sept. 21. Nestled under the shade trees in Burning Mountain Park, the market has many returning and new vendors this year and features local farmers’ and ranchers’ offerings of fruits, vegetables and other products; food for munching on site; and live music of various genres. Music for opening day will be provided by Leonard Curry Trio.
Each week we will highlight a few of our vendors. Look for Upper Crust Pastries, Julie’s Hand Painted Signs and Juicy Acres Produce, the latter of which offers a wide range of vegetables and those delicious peaches in season. There are many more vendors offering pies, jams, massages, jewelry, fresh flowers and more. If you’re hungry you can choose from hot dogs, tacos and kettle corn among other choices.
Wine sampling events will be sponsored by New Castle Liquors on July 20 and Spirits Liquor on Aug. 17. On Sept. 21, the market will host a beer sampling with roasted chilies.
The town of New Castle will sponsor the Snap Program for families in need of assistance.
