Despite rumors on social media Monday, there have been no threats directed toward schools in Garfield School District Re-2, and there is no need to cancel classes at any schools.

The district clarified the situation in a message to parents Monday. A social media message indicating threats against district schools was inaccurate.

“There have been NO THREATS directed toward Garfield Re-2 schools,” according to the message from the district.

“The safety of our students and staff is the highest priority. In the event of any school closure, Garfield Re-2 will do its best to communicate the closure in a timely manner.”

The district communicates that information through several preferred channels, including an auto-dialer and auto-email system and on the district’s website. Parents also can verify school closure information by contacting their child’s school or the district office at 970-665-7600.
