Oil and gas group hires new director

Community Counts of Colorado has hired Nita Smith as its new executive director.

“Nita has been involved in our community for over 10 years,” said Community Counts President Susan Alvillar. “She knows the oil and gas business as well, making her a perfect fit.”

Community Counts is a membership-based organization that works to balance the economic and social benefits of natural gas and oil production with the impacts the operations have on communities and the environment in Western Colorado.

Nita has been coordinator for three years for the organization, which covers Garfield, Mesa and Rio Blanco counties.
