One dead, three injured in Edwards crash
EDWARDS — One man died and three others were seriously injured in a rollover crash near Edwards that was discovered Tuesday morning but apparently happened several hours earlier, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending identification and notification of their families.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Red Canyon Road and Hillcrest Drive in Edwards.
According to a State Patrol news release, evidence shows that a 2005 silver Audi sedan was traveling eastbound on Red Canyon Road when the driver lost control and drove off the road.
The vehicle then vaulted over Hillcrest Drive and overturned multiple times, landing near the entrance to the Lake Creek Village Apartments.
Authorities believe the accident may have happened either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, but wasn’t discovered until later in the morning. The news release did not say exactly what time the accident was reported.
One male was pronounced dead on scene, and three other male occupants, including the suspected driver, were transported to Vail Valley Medical Center.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol and excessive speed are possible contributing factors, the State Patrol said.
It also appears that the deceased male was not wearing his seat belt.

Fire investigators are still working on determining the cause of Tuesday’s house fire in Glenwood Springs, which left no one injured but caused extensive damage.
