Open space program seeks public feedback on Emma, Prince Creek Road plans

The public is invited to provide feedback on a draft management plan for a property held by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails and provide comments on the future of a second property.

The management plan for the Emma Open Space agricultural lands and historic buildings has been drafted. An open house will be held Wednesday at Basalt Town Hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m. by the open space staff to answer questions and collect input.

The draft plan is also available at http://www.pitkinostprojects.com. Comments can be submitted online via a link from that site.

Interested parties must submit their comments as soon as possible. A final version of the plan will go to the Open Space and Trails board of directors for adoption on June 22.

The open space program is also crafting a draft plan for a trail and parking lot along Prince Creek Road outside of Carbondale. The program has acquired property for a parking lot and aims to build a 1.5-mile trail that would connect to the popular network on the Crown.

The new parking lot would replace the helter-skelter situation that currently exists on Prince Creek Road.

Details can be found and comments made at http://www.pitkinostprojects.com. The draft plan is scheduled for release in early June.
