Palisade recently celebrated the 100th birthday of the roller dam, which completed construction in 1915. It was designed by German engineers and made by locals to supply irrigation water to Colorado’s Grand Valley.

Congressman Scott Tipton made an emphasis on the importance of the dam to the Grand Valley, its crops and way of life.

The day was also filled with an art show, information booths, videos and of course, cake.
