The University of Denver’s two-year Western Colorado Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program, based in Glenwood Springs, had their student recognition ceremony on Saturday.
The 20 students who were honored represent several counties on the Western Slope including Pitkin, Garfield, Mesa, Grand, Gunnison, Eagle and Montrose. These students have completed coursework specifically designed to meet the needs of rural and mountain communities in Western Colorado. They have also provided over 1,000 hours of service to local agencies through their internships. Many students plan to continue working at their internships sites or find employment in their home communities.
The Western Colorado program is currently accepting applications from students to make up the second cohort, which will begin classes September 2015.
