It’s all about customer service for Ivy Parnasius, which she feels has kept her business, Pollux Clothing Company, going for the last 15 years.
“It’s fun to shop at a boutique instead of a chain shop, you get personalized attention from me and my staff. Just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean it will work with everyone’s lifestyle,” she said. “I enjoy what I do and that shows, too.”
Pollux, a women’s clothing, accessories and gift store, started in the back of another shop, utilizing 100 square feet in downtown Grand Junction. She moved to another location downtown in 2000, but eventually landed at the current location, 321 Main St., in downtown Grand Junction seven years ago. She also opened a store in Montrose, Colo. in 2009.
“I feel like there are a lot of chains in town and not a lot of specialty shops,” Parnasius said. “We offer a very limited quantity of clothes, once it’s gone, we won’t get it again. We also like to work with small designers so it feels like a shop that is more unique than any chain.”
She feels the small shop also is a way to keep with the trends because of the close connection with designers.
“There is a style for every generation,” Parnasius said. “From 70 down to 12 years old, so we have something for everyone.”
To help continue offering excellent customer service, Pollux has expanded its shopping options to its website, http://www.polluxclothing.com. The website offers orders to be shipped directly to the customer or in-store pick up.
“It’s especially great for new moms to just run in and grab the order versus shopping in store with limited time,” Parnasius said.
Parnasius and her crew of eight work not only in the shop, but also taking photographs of all styles currently in stock, fulfilling online orders and running the behind the scene operations.
Pollux is also private labeling each piece of clothing to expand brand awareness.
The shop is open seven days a week, and stays open late on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
