If you’re planning to put your skis in storage, think again! Powderhorn Mountain Resort — supposed to close for the season last weekend — will reopen Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6.

“We’ve got great snow in the forecast, and we wanted to stay open a little longer,” Powderhorn spokesman Dave Smith said.

As of Monday, March 31, Powderhorn’s snow base was still 69 inches. Plus, predictions for Grand Mesa point to sunny skies and a high near 40 degrees this weekend.

“It’s going to be beautiful weather,” Smith noted.

The annual pond skimming event — which was originally planned for last Sunday — is now set for Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m.

According to a Powderhorn news release, 60 spots are open for the competition and registration will be held at the guest-services area. The Sunset Bar & Grille will also be open, and retail at the resort is 40 percent off.

Live music — Tony Rosario on Saturday and the Gerry Goodman Band Sunday — is planned as well.

And for this weekend only, all-day adult lift tickets cost only $20, and season passes are still valid, Smith added.
