Public can meet county manager finalists Friday

Garfield County department heads and elected officers have their chance to question the three finalists for the county manager position today, followed by formal interviews with the county commissioners on Friday.

Meanwhile, the public will have a chance to meet the finalists during a public reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Hotel Colorado.

The county last week named its final candidates for the position, including current acting County Manager Kevin Batchelder, current La Plata County Manager Joseph Kerby, and Tim Boyde, the director of administrative services and chief clerk for Centre County, Pennsylvania.

County commissioners are seeking to replace former County Manager Andrew Gorgey, with whom the commissioners mutually agreed to part ways in early July after Gorgey’s three years with the county.

Depending on the interviews, a decision on a new county manager could come in early December.
