Regional: Two die in I-70 accident near Parachute as they help change a tire

Two good Samaritans were killed Wednesday morning as they helped another person change a tire on Interstate 70 near Parachute.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred on a curve about 3 miles west of town. The two men who died were struck by a truck as they worked on the tire change.

Both died at the scene.

Their names were not immediately released.

The stranded motorist they were assisting was uninjured, as was the driver of the truck, who stopped and cooperated with investigators. No charges had been filed Wednesday morning.

I-70 westbound was closed for several hours until early afternoon, with a detour in place along Highway 6.
