Roaring Fork Schools’ priority application window for early childhood opens in April

The priority application period for the 2022-23 early childhood program in the Roaring Fork Schools opens in April.

According to a school district news release, the early childhood program is offered at every elementary school in the district, including Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Basalt district schools.

The program provides both toddler programming for children ages 12 months (and walking) to 3 years, and preschool for children ages 3-5 years, the release states.

Applications are being accepted both online or in-person on the following schedule:

Glenwood Springs Elementary School, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 6

Sopris Elementary School, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 13

Riverview School, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20

Crystal River Elementary School, 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20

Basalt Elementary School, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 27

Completing an application does not guarantee a position in a program, the release states. Applications received before May 1 will receive priority consideration. Families will be notified of their application status by June.

Families can attend any application session regardless of location and should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate and immunization records, the release states.

No fee is required for early childhood application; however, a preschool deposit will be collected upon acceptance into the program. Tuition rates for 2022-23 can be found here.

Roaring Fork Schools early childhood programs offer Colorado Preschool Program and Early Childhood At-Risk Enhancement scholarships for eligible families, the release also explains. Paperwork will be available in both English and Spanish, and bilingual staff will be present at the sessions to assist families with the process. The Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork Schools will be present on ECE application days to support families with additional services.

In addition, community early childhood programs including Children’s Mini College and El Busesito will be available on site to meet with families. And families can schedule onsite school vaccinations with Garfield County by calling 970-945-6614, ext. 2030.

Online applications will be available beginning April 1 at http://www.rfschools.com/enrollment.
