The 2015 Spellebration adult spelling bee will be held on Friday, March 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Colorado. In this team event, groups of three spellers work together to solve the mystery of an increasingly devious list of words.

The theme for the 2015 Spellebration highlights mystery and detection: “The Case of the Misspelled Word.” Teams are encouraged to come in costume as famous detectives, characters from mystery novels, television crime solvers, film sleuths, or hard-core gumshoes.

The point of the evening is to raise money for Literacy Outreach and the CMC Learning Labs, as well as to have lots of fun. In other words, outstanding spelling skills aren’t a requirement.

Local businesses act as team sponsors, and team members are encouraged to solicit for word passes (essential when you have no clue how to spell an especially mystifying word).

Anyone willing to join in the fun and support literacy in Garfield County is encouraged to put together a team, locate a sponsor, identify a mystery/detection character, assemble a costume and come play on March 13. To sign up, or to get more information, call Literacy Outreach at 970-945-5282.
