Slash and burn for BLM outside of Basalt

The Bureau of Land Management is informing midvalley residents that it will start burning 30 slash piles of timber on Light Hill on Friday.

The slash piles are leftover from earlier fuel reduction projects in the area. The BLM was waiting for snow cover and favorable conditions to lift smoke out of the area.

The area of the burn on vast Light Hill is about two miles southwest of Basalt, the BLM notice said.
