Starbucks on Grand open after repairs

The Starbucks Coffee shop at 2115 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs reopened earlier this week following a two-week closure while building repairs were being made.

Company officials did not respond to requests for comment, but the year-old Starbucks location appeared to operating normally by Wednesday.

The store had been partially and then fully closed since late July due to what appeared to be plumbing and ventilation work that was being done on the building.

The structure was remodeled last year from what for many years had been an Arby’s restaurant, into a new Starbucks cafe and drive-through restaurant.

A spokeswoman for the Seattle-based company said the closure less than a year after the store opened was for necessary building improvements, and not for any state-ordered health or safety concerns.

State health officials confirmed that.

The company also said employees of the store were compensated during the closure or picking up hours at other area Starbucks while the repairs were being made.
