A garage and an adjacent home were moderately damaged by a fire Sunday night.

The Glenwood Springs Fire Department responded just before 6:30 p.m. to the 600 block of Eighth Street to a report of a garage on fire and spreading to a home.

The first engine arrived within three minutes to find heavy fire on one side of the garage and melting the siding on a home across the alley. All occupants were out of both structures. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames and cooled down the adjacent structure, and cleared the scene at about 7:45 p.m.

The fire caused moderate damage to the garage as well as the home across the alley, and its cause is currently under investigation.

Emergency response included three engines, an ambulance, a battalion chief and Glenwood Springs Police Department. Mutual aid was provided by Colorado River Fire Rescue.
