Sunlight Skier Appreciation Day is Friday

Sunlight Mountain Resort celebrates its 27th Skier Appreciation Day on Friday with $20 lift tickets. Proceeds go to United Way of Garfield County.

The first 25 first-time skiers or snowboarders will get a free lesson thanks to First Bank and Alpine Bank.

This year, Sunlight is honoring the penguin. Wear your best penguin costume to win a season pass to Sunlight for the 2014-15 ski and snowboard season. The crowd will be the judge of the winner. Not only do you get a chance to win a season pass for best costume, but there will also be a drawing to win a brand new pair of skis, the Gold Pass for the day, $500 in gift cards and many more prizes.

The Logan Brothers will be performing in the lodge, so bring your lady penguin and dance your feathers off.

Sunlight has not forgotten about the teachers and students of the valley. Sunday is Teacher and Student Appreciation Day so nobody will have to ditch school to hit the slopes. Re-1 students can get a lift ticket for $20, and teachers and staff will ski for free. Each student, school employee or teacher will have to show an ID or report card to receive the discount.
