Sunlight’s demo days postponed a week
Sunlight Mountain Resort’s “Demo Days with Santa” have been postponed until the weekend of Dec. 20-21 in hopes that the ski area will have more snow by then, Sunlight’s marketing manager, Jennie Spillane, said.
The special day to try out new skis while letting the kids ski with Santa was to have taken place this weekend. The ski area still plans to reopen the ski lifts today, but the demo event will have to wait a week, Spillane said.
At that time, visitors can demo skis from Volkl, K2, Dynastar, Meier Skis, Armada and Salomon, as well as snowboards from Never Summer. Kids can meet up for a few runs with Santa at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the base area.
The recent warm spell and lack of snow prompted Sunlight to shut down lift operations during the past week following opening weekend Dec. 5-7. A winter storm is forecast to pass through the central mountains late Saturday and into Sunday.
