Thanks for the rewarding experience
When I first started with the Grand Junction Free Press in March 2014, I admittedly was jumping in head first in shallow waters. I had little experience in the newspaper world and had no idea what to expect. I was a year-old graduate from Colorado Mesa University looking for any job that was, in some way, related to my degree.
I was excited to take the opportunity to write for the Grand Junction Free Press as a reporter; to learn and expand my horizons as the months went on.
Thanks to the opportunity with the Grand Junction Free Press, I have won multiple Colorado Press Association awards and gained experience I will never be able to replace.
I want to thank the Grand Junction Free Press staff, new and old, for the opportunity you have given me over the last year and a half. I am so sad it is closing and hope one day it will be reborn with a fresh vision and continue to provide amazing community news to this amazing community.
Without this opportunity, I would have never hiked (and suffered) up Mount Garfield, written so many unique articles, and met so many amazing people.
While I am unsure what my future holds, I know I will land in the right position thanks to my experience with the Free Press.
