Transfer Trail needs volunteers

SILT — Volunteers are needed May 18 for the annual Transfer Trail “Open the Trail Day” north of Glenwood Springs.

High Country 4 Wheelers, White River Trail Runners, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and other local businesses and off-highway vehicle groups are sponsoring the trail maintenance day to prepare for the May 24 seasonal opening of this popular access to the Flat Tops.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the base of Transfer Trail. From U.S. 24 in Glenwood Springs, turn north onto Traver Trail, in 0.4 miles turn right on Transfer Trail and drive for one mile.

Volunteers should come dressed in long pants, sturdy work shoes and leather gloves, and bring rakes and shovels.

High Country 4 Wheelers will provide lunch.
