Truck driver cited for spill in Rifle

The Associated Press

RIFLE — The driver of a tractor-trailer that overturned earlier this week, spilling more than 1,100 gallons of fluid used in fracking has been ticketed.

The Colorado State Patrol cited 36-year-old Bradley Ferganchick, of Molina, for careless driving and for deviating from an authorized route for transporting hazardous materials.

Rifle Police Chief John Dyer said Tuesday’s accident forced the evacuation of about a dozen homes as a precaution, but residents were allowed to return the same evening.

Investigators say Ferganchick was speeding when he turned off U.S. Highway 6 onto Colorado Highway 13.
