Valley cleanup day set for Saturday

Staff Report

Sunlight Mountain Resort has partnered with Keep the Valley Beautiful for a community-wide pickup day Saturday, April 23 — which is Earth Day.

“Keeping our local environment clear of waste and debris is a top priority for Sunlight, and we’ve been organizing our own cleanup day with volunteers from the Sunlight Winter Sports Club for many years now,” said Tom Hays, assistant general manager. “Partnering with this community effort was a natural fit, and we’re excited to take these efforts to the next level through with the help of Keep the Valley Beautiful.”

To help promote the cleanup day, Sunlight is offering two 2016/17 lift tickets to the team that posts the most impressive photos of their cleanup to Keep the Valley Beautiful’s event page on Facebook.

More sponsors have since come on board, including Glenwood Canyon Brew Pub and Carbondale-based businesses Marble Distillery, Roaring Fork Beer Co. and Ragged Mountain Sports.

Sunlight and volunteers will be cleaning up a 6-mile stretch of Four Mile Road, from the resort parking lot down to Black Diamond Ranch Road. Other volunteers have pledged to clean up other roads throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Learn more: https://www.facebook.com/events/858750470914011/
