West Glenwood I-70 access limited

Staff Report

People wanting to travel west on Interstate 70 won’t be able to get on the freeway in West Glenwood this weekend.

The westbound on-ramp at Exit 114 will close at 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.

People traveling west on I-70 should enter the interstate from Exit 116, the main Glenwood-to-Aspen exit.

The closure is necessary to complete improvements to the westbound on-ramp to allow for an easier merge configuration.

Other closures:

• Sixth Street to Colorado 82 eastbound will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. All drivers intending to go to points south of I-70 in Glenwood Springs or upvalley on Colorado 82 will be detoured to West Glenwood. From West Glenwood, traffic should travel Midland Avenue to Seventh Street to Colorado Avenue to Eighth Street to access downtown.

Downvalley traffic on Colorado 82 traffic will not be affected.

A detour to the Glenwood Hot Springs will also be in place from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday via Fifth Street to Olive Street.

• Wulfsohn Road in Glenwood will be closed Friday due to utility work and dirt-moving operations. The closure will occur at the drive entrance to the city of Glenwood Springs and the RFTA maintenance facilities to Midland Avenue. Access to both facilities will not be blocked.
