Locals raise $5,000 at Katrina relief benefit

In a benefit sponsored by Fin’s Grille & Raw Bar on Thursday night in Glenwood Springs, locals raised $5,032 for the American Red Cross to go toward victims of Hurricane Katrina.Amidst a ‘neighborhood house-party’ atmosphere diners enjoyed a Cajun buffet during the benefit.Chef Dana Anderson planned and prepared the buffet with the assistance of Sous Chef Ron Zanstra. Both donated their time to the benefit. Owner Donny André donated the fresh ingredients for the buffet. Brownies were donated by Sacred Grounds coffee shop.Special guests included the McGuire family, who are temporarily displaced New Orleans residents.David Dodson, of Dodson Engineering facilitated “Fan-dango” playing that gave patrons another fun way to give additional donations.A number of Roaring Fork Valley businesses also donated for the silent auction.
