Lois Yvonne Downey

Lois Yvonne Downey, 68, died Sept. 19, 2005, in Rifle.

She was born April 11, 1937, in Yuma, Colo., to Robert and Daisy M. (Smith) Cook.

She married Wesley Downey in Rifle on Aug. 9, 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rifle Creek Golf Association and the Rifle Bowling League.

Lois was an avid outdoor person, she loved her home and could be seen working in her flower gardens and yard. She loved her family and her two grandchildren, and loved to go camping with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; sons Steven and Douglas Downey, both of Rifle; daughter Teresa (David)Beecraft, of Rifle; grandchildren Brian and Savannah Beecraft, of Rifle; and nine brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters.

A graveside memorial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the Reverend Dene Johnson of the First Christian Church of Rifle officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
