Lola Mae Tipton, 87, passed away Oct. 13, 2008, at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle.

Lola was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Rosco, Texas, to Walter and Melvina (Fish) Kemp.

Lola married Chester C. Tipton in 1940 in Texas. She was a homemaker and an area resident for 37 years.



Lola loved gardening, flowers, reading, children and family reunions with her 14 brothers and sisters. She liked old country music, crossword puzzles, and making quilts and knitting. Lola also enjoyed playing the piano.

Lola is survived by sons Ben and Robert Tipton; brother Walter Kemp; sister Argilee Millen; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband; son Phillip Tipton; and daughter Judy Brooks.

A family graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in New Castle.
