Long live movies

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the people at the Post Independent and the Glenwood Historical Society for all their time and help in putting out the great story on the theaters – a very good job.

You know movies will always be around. They take us into a fantasy world and let us relax for at least a short period of time in our lives. They get us away from the hard outside world and the everyday grind of our daily lives.

It is a pastime we can’t afford to lose. We imagine we are back in the old west or a spy or solving some big crime or being scared out of our wits by ghosts and goblins. Yes, the past is gone for two old places, the Glen and the Canyon Drive-in, but the Springs is still with us, and I hope for a long time to come.

So in closing, I thank you all again for letting me go back to the time of the old theaters gone by.

Your very truly,

Robert E. McCarthy
