Lucille LoSasso

Lucille LoSasso passed away Oct. 4, 2005, at her home in Lakewood.Lucille was born in Denver on March 9, 1928, to Joseph and Josephine (Zito) DiYorio. She grew up in north Denver and graduated from Manual High School. After high school, she went to work for Pullman Co., where she met her future husband.After a brief engagement, she married Patrick LoSasso on March 12, 1949, at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in north Denver. Lucille quit her job to run her household, which grew to three daughters and a son.Lucille was the role model of the classic Italian Catholic mother, saying the rosary every day and cooking for her family and friends. Lucille cared for her husband, who has Alzheimer’s, in later years. She saw it as a labor of love.She was diagnosed with bone cancer recently and was told she would die soon. When she heard the news, she told the doctor she wasn’t afraid.No one ever left her house hungry. Her generosity extended beyond her family; she made baked goods for friends and family during the holidays.Survivors include her husband; son Mark (Julie) LoSasso, of Lakewood; daughters Sharon LoSasso of Boise, Idaho, Patti (Ted) Ward, of Lakewood, and Judy (Dean) Railsback, of New Castle; and five grandchildren.The Rosary Mass was held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wheat Ridge, and interment was at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
