Luke’s pig makes it to the county fair

Dear Editor,

I just wanted to convey a big thank you to all of the wonderful people who helped my son, Luke Nesler, out at the Garfield County Fair.

We were suffering the loss of Luke’s father two short days before he was due to show his swine, and had decided just to sell the animals for slaughter. Upon hearing this, several people went into action to ensure that Luke would be able to have his animals shown, cared for, and one sold at the 4-H auction.

We would like to thank Leon Hanhardt, the Binger Family, Gene and Ilene Brown, C.T. Barnett, Nancy Johnson, the Garfield County Extension Office, Buddy McNeel and several unknown 4-H members who helped care for the pigs.

We would also like to thank Jim Wilson Construction for purchasing Luke’s pig. This was the first year of 4-H for Luke and we were somewhat uncertain as to how things would turn out.

Please know what a great community we live in that so many people would come to the rescue and touch the life of a little boy so significantly.

God bless you all,

Joyce Holman
