Glenwood Springs’ Travis Lundin and Lily McSwain, alpine skiers for Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC), both reached the podium at last weekend’s Smartwool Speed Series downhill and Wilder Dwight Memorial super-G races.

Lundin won both men’s downhill races at Buttermilk Mountain on Saturday. AVSC teammate Dean Travers took silver twice for the J3s and AVSC skiers took six of the top 10 spots in both races.

“Travis and Dean both went for it and it was exciting to watch,” AVSC J3 coach Pat Callahan said.

McSwain, a J2 competitor, won both women’s races on Saturday and teammate Julia Mueller-Ristine finished second twice, falling just a fraction of a second behind McSwain in the morning.

“Lily had two runs that were almost flawless and Julia showed her signature aggressive style,” Callahan said.

Sunday’s Wilder Dwight Memorial J3 Junior Olympic qualifier featured a super-G triumph for Lundin. He was tops among J3s and finished second overall to J2 racer Bobby Moyer.

“Travis is a great multi-sport athlete from Glenwood Springs who made a smooth transition from football to skiing this winter,” said Ramsay Hill, another of AVSC’s J3 coaches.

McSwain finished first in Sunday’s super-G as a J2.
