Lynch story shows control of information by current administration

Dear Editor,

It was interesting to read an article by the Associated Press Nov. 26. The article repeated essentially the Pentagon’s initial account of Jessica Lynch’s “rescue” by U.S. commandos from a hospital in Iraq, an account which has now been thoroughly discredited. It also repeated the allegation of sodomy, which was only discovered by some anonymous Pentagon medic several days after the supposed event.

There was no mention of Miss Lynch’s courageous acknowledgement of the humane treatment she received while in the Iraqi hospital, nor her dismay when she realized that she had been used by the Pentagon as a propaganda tool.

Any rational analysis of the content of this article shows the degree of control exercised by our administration over the news we are allowed to receive. It is reminiscent of dispatches fed to us by the Israeli where every Palestinian they kill is identified as being a deadly threat to the state, a category which includes 13-year-old boys throwing stones at tanks.

Sincerely,

Richard B.Veit
