Macho weekend – strippers or sports
With April back tormenting the land of Indianapolis with her charm, I thought I’d step up as this week’s substitute for Steppin’ Out.My life is as bland as oatmeal compared to Ms. Clark’s thrill ride, but still, I try and find time to have a little fun. With fall banging on the door, I must admit that this is my favorite time of the year. As a former hunter, I used to take rifle in hand and go on long hikes. Deer and elk were never in any danger with me and a high-powered rifle. As a marksman, I rank right up there with the kid from “A Christmas story.” At least I never put a BB in my eye.I decided to consult the PI calendar to see what’s on tap this weekend.
A few things did catch me eye.Stripper Style Workout Classes in Carbondale – intrigued! Is this a spectator event?Ryden Ranch Maize Maze near New Castle. I’ve never been much of a investor but this is one stalk market that interests me.Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials: This is a very popular event where dogs rule and the sheep are scared. Isn’t there a place in Montana like that too?
For all us car enthusiasts, Glenwood Springs Ford hosts the 11th Annual Classic Car Show. Head out to West Glenwood and check out a couple hundred pimped-out rides. For the athletic folks there’s the annual Tri-Glenwood Triathlon on Sunday. For me, I’m heading to Denver to catch a game. The Rockies are in the heat of a playoff race – a sentence I never thought I would utter in September – and I’m ready to grab all the action at Coors Field.Since I’m a big movie buff I might venture out to the theater while in the Mile High City. I think I’ll pass on “Balls of Fury,” and I don’t even know or want to know what it’s about.
Here’s a little-known secret about me – I like chick flicks. And no, that’s not why I don’t want to see the aforementioned movie. But this weekend, there’s macho watcho opportunities. With “Shoot ’em up,” and the shoot ’em western “3:10 Yuma” out this weekend, there will be plenty of guns a blazin’.And of course, on Sunday, I’ll be plopped in front of the TV seeing how the Jay Cutler era begins when the Broncos shuffle off to Buffalo to see if they can foot (kick) the Bills. There, I finally got in a foot reference. Next week April will be back kicking up her heels in Steppin’ Out.
