Maggie Belle Loesch

Maggie Belle Loesch, 100, died Aug. 13, 2005, at the Progressive Care Center in Cañon City. Maggie Belle was born Dec. 27, 1904, in LaBelle, Mo., to Charles and Carrie (Hobbs) Brown. She moved to Colorado Springs at the age of 4 and was raised on Missouri Heights near Carbondale. In 1923, she married Jacob W. Loesch in Glenwood Springs, who preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage. Their sons, Bernard and Dallas, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Loesch particularly enjoyed the years she and her husband worked at the Rippy Sawmill on the Flat Tops. They built a home in New Castle out of logs from the sawmill and lived there until their retirement to Cañon City in 1978. Maggie Belle also fondly remembered her years of employment at the Colorado Hotel in Glenwood Springs and at the Redstone Castle.Viewing will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Holt Family Funeral Home in Cañon City. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. A special thanks is extended to all her friends and caregivers at Progressive Care Center. Holt Family Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
