Magic Show fund-raiser is legit, but beware phone scam

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – Police here are warning people to watch out for a scam involving the Magic Show fund-raiser. According to a news release from the Glenwood Springs Police Department, the Magic Show fund-raiser is a legitimate operation endorsed by the department, and its solicitors are allowed to use the department’s name while asking for money. But somebody has been calling area residents and asking for personal financial information. “They will not ask for any account numbers or credit card numbers for these solicitations.”Please be sure to ask any questions of any callers to ensure that you know who you are dealing with and that you are comfortable with your donation,” the news release said.Call the police department at 384-6500 for more information.
