Make love, not war

Dear Editor,

Great idea, Mr. Bush.

Let’s rape and pillage our forests with roads and infrastructure so we can cut trees so they don’t burn (so if it does rain, the soil can wash down and fill up Lake Powell with silt.)

Oh, and the big talk about hydrogen-powered cars: In reality they are about 15 years from being affordable.

Mr. Bush, do you really think that the big oil companies, the automotive industry, the unions, and your bud in the oil business, the vice president, are going to let us use one of the most abundant elements in the solar system for energy when there is a drop of oil left on the planet?

And right on! Let’s use our hi-tech, hi-buck military and 18-year-olds and go to Iraq and kill people in the fight against terrorism.

As I said in 1969, burning my draft card on the Capitol steps in Denver, “Make love not war.”
