Malcolm "Larry" Williams

Malcolm “Larry” Williams died April 19, 2007, at Valley View Hospital, from lung disease.Larry was born July 2, 1937, in Glenwood Springs, to Malcolm and “Janie” (Carol Ruth Walz) Williams. He grew up on the family ranch in Glenwood Springs and after serving in the U.S. Army, he returned home to the Roaring Fork Valley. Larry and his family made Carbondale their home. Larry had numerous jobs, including his favorites with Morrison-Knudsen, Aspen Highlands and City Market in Carbondale. For many years, Larry was on the “chain crew” for the Roaring Fork High School football teams, served on the Carbondale Fire Department and drove the ambulance. Survivors include his wife, Irwina; sons Jeffery, Larry “Shorty” (Wendy Schwichtenberg) Williams; brother Robert (Bonnie) Williams of Washington State; and grandchildren Blaine, Brent, Jesse and Kallie. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the new Carbondale Fire Station, 300 Meadowood Drive, with the Pastor James Legg officiating.In lieu of flowers, the Carbondale Fire Department is accepting donations in Larry’s name.Farnum Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
